ICA project workshop (22/04/2012)

On March 06th 2012, at Meeting Room in Training and Education Building, Research Institute for aquaculture No1, “Impacts of climate change and adapting bio-security measures for aquaculture in northern Vietnam” project has hold an external kick-off workshop. The workshop aimed to introduce each other between the project to the local and government authorities and to approach project partners.

Participating the workshop, from ICA Project, were Dr. Phan Thi Van, Director of Project, Leader of Research Institute for Aquaculture No.1; Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia, Research Coordinator and GIS and Fisheries resource specialist; Dr. Henry Madsen, Senior Scientist from Department for Veterinary Disease Biology, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen (UC-LIFE) and other project staffs. From the stakeholders, were Mai Van Tai, Socio- Economics, Livelihood, Director of Center for Environment and Disease Monitoring in Aquaculture, RIA1; Dr. Nguyen Quang Huy, Marine Aquaculture, Vice Director of Aquaculture Research Sub-Institute for Northern Central, RIA1; Dr. Dang Thi Lua, Head of Disease Department of Center for Environment and Disease Monitorinag in Aquaculture, RIA1; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Xuan Canh, Superior Researcher, Director of Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources; Tran Diem Lan, Officer, International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Pham Thi Dung, Officer, Climate Change Office, Science Technology and Environment for Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

There were also representatives from Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the three target province. From Nghe An, they were Mr.Tran Huu Tien, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Mr.Tran Xuan Hoc, Head of Department of Aquaculture. From Hai Phong, they were Mr.Dao Viet Thuan, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Ms. Vo Thi Hong Phuong, Head of Aquaculture Section. From Quang Ninh, Mr.Dang Dinh Nham, Head of Environment Section, Aquaculture Department, attended the workshop.

 

 


In the workshop, on behalf of the leader board of project, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia introduced project information and work packages to the government and local authorities as well as project partners. Also, - recognizing the importance of capacity building for the Department of Agriculture and Rural development of the target provinces, Dr.Phan Thi Van announced Project Decision on funding 03 MSc scholarship studying in Vietnam, these 03 MSc scholarship will be given to the target province, one for each.

 

 


Representing International Cooperation Department, MARD, Ms.Tran Thi Lan had a speech on MARD’s international issue related to adapting climate change in fishery and aquaculture. Ms. Pham Thi Dung, on behalf of Climate Change Office; Science, Technology and Environment Department, MARD, talked about climate change related information Management in Climate Change Office. From the target provinces, representatives of Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development also presented the situation of aquaculture and climate change related projects, programs that has been implemented in each province.

 

 


The workshop has been organized successfully. It is one of the first important steps to build connection between project staffs and project stakeholders.
