International Fisheries Symposium 2012 attendance (31/01/2013)

Objectives of the symposium are sharing knowledge for sustainable aquaculture and fisheries in Southeast Asia. This is an opportunity for scientists, technicians, businessmen, farmers and managers from the South East Asian countries to gather and share knowledge and information on aquaculture and fisheries science and technology.
The symposium was co-organized by eight universities: Universitas Airlangga (Indonesia), Can Tho University (Vietnam), Kasetsart University (Thailand), Nong Lam University (Viet Nam), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (Malaysia), Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (Thailand) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia).
The Symposium had five sessions: 1) Plenary session - Seed production and aquaculture - Aquatic resources and environmental study. 2) Nutrition and physiology - Food processing and food safety. 3) Aquatic disease & health management - Fisheries economics and management. 4) Genetics and biodiversity - Aquatic resources and environmental studies - Fisheries economics and management. 5) Poster presentation.
The ICA project attended the symposium with a poster presentation to illustrate project research, methods and expected outcomes. The poster attracted a number of interested people to question and to get more details about the project and go into further discussion and cooperation with the ICA project.

During the symposium many discussions was initiated about ICA and climate change. ICA got a good chance to explain our project goals, objectives, methods and activities and also we learned from similar research projects. A set of publications and detail contacts have been collected for lessons learned and further communication. All poster presentations at the workshop have been photographed for future information and made available for download on the ICA website.
